More Cake! (138/365)

Today we finished the fireman cake (for the explanation, see the previous post):

We had leftover batter and fondant so we decided to make a second cake, Winnie the Pooh themed. Here is Pooh, just after I pinned his arms on (and before Lizzie covered the toothpick in his paw with "honey"):

Here is the finished product! What do you think?

The cake is Betty Crocker (Fudge Brownie, I think) with whipped white icing inside and under the fondant. The fondant makes up the covering on the cake, the letters, the figures (aided by whipped icing "glue" and toothpicks) and the grass (see below). The honey is cooking decorating gel icing.

And there was STILL fondant left over, so we made a dinosaur/mole/godzilla/armadillo:

Pat-a-Cake, Cat-a-Cake (137/365)

Ok, so today me and my friend Liz made a cake with fondant figures. Here is our start on Winnie the Pooh holding a honey pot (to be finished tomorrow):

Then we started on today's cake, which you need to skim this - http://www.cakewrecks.com/2008/05/this-made-me-laugh-til-i-cried.html - to understand.
Read it? Great. Here is the start on the fireman:

This was our first time working with fondant ever, so I think it went alright:

Fire hydrant and inappropriately coloured hose:

There he is!

Complete!

Here are a the sketches we made:

Pet Shop Girls (135/365)

I went out with my unofficial twin today, the lovely Lizzie:

We had coffee and dinner:

Acted our age for a bit, obviously (just as a side note, I forced her into this):

Then we went to the mall pet store until our movie started (!!!) :

And some hamsters to round off the post:
