Puppies and Patriotism (26/365)

A little Canadian patriotism on my walk to class this morning:

The campus bar was holding an Olympics party and featuring "Go Canada Go" shots, which my guy friends decided to try:

Then I was messing around with my flashlight and a red handkerchief:

And of course, the puppy. I'm trying to get better at using flash without it looking washed out. Any suggestions?

  1. nice! not a bad idea to do some patriotist things! i'll give it a go the coming week. it won't be olympic though. none of the belgians have a chance on a medal :-(
as for the flash: if it's not the build in one: bounce it from a bigger surface so you get more diffuse light from the side. this usually creates more depth and nice shadows. as for the build in one, there's just so much it can do... on the puppy shots, i would play a bit with the white balance because the light looks quite cold.
    hope it helps! go canada!!
